Solar Radiant Solution
The choice of the Messana radiant cooling and heating system was made after a thoughtful analysis and comparison with possible alternative technologies (such as VRF air conditioning, mini-split and forced air).
Only a radiant ceiling system could integrate well with the elegant design of the building and meet the high comfort expectations.
A new high performance recessed LED downlight solution (DL2 by EST), designed by aerospace engineers in collaboration with top-tier lighting designers, provides an unmatched lighting solution that gives a distinct character to the ceiling.
Because of the small footprint (true 2”) the lighting fixtures were in fact installed in between serpentines of the radiant cooling and heating panels.
The large windows on both floors are protected by overhangs that limit the heat solar gain inside the building, help to improve efficiency during the warmer season, and create a more comfortable interior space. The mechanical engineer opted for a natural ventilation of the building without a dehumidification system.
This incredible building is the first office space in North America featuring a radiant cooling gypsum ceiling technology.
