Lindenwood Residence
In 2018, Atherton, California, witnessed the transformation of a 9,000 sqft architectural gem, paying homage to Mid-Century Modern origins while embracing sustainability. Ware Architecture and Cheng Design collaborated on seamlessly blending old and new, with a focus on an advanced hydronic HVAC system.
Triggered by a fallen pine tree, the project aimed to replace the damaged Mid-Century Modern home while retaining its classic style with contemporary elements. The resulting home showcased modernist design, emphasizing a single-story layout with clean lines and a strong connection to the outdoors.
A standout feature was the integrated Messana Ray Magic® radiant ceiling with Messana Controls and an air-to-water heat pump for efficient climate control.
This project exemplifies how advanced hydronic HVAC technology harmonizes with architectural excellence, creating an energy-efficient, comfortable, and visually stunning living spaceโa celebration of modernist revival, showcasing the timeless appeal of mid-century design while embracing the future of sustainable living.
